We’re thrilled to invite you to be part of our Muddy Hands Festival—a growing, annual celebration of conservation, ecology, and nature play! Taking place on I Love My Park Day, Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 1–4 pm at Freedom Park (212 Skidmore Rd), this family-friendly event is the perfect opportunity to inspire curiosity and connect with the community.

Our mission is simple yet impactful: to bring families outdoors and foster connections with nature through hands-on experiences and meaningful interactions. To do that, we need passionate organizations and people like you to help us create a memorable day for all.

Why Participate?
*Be a Part of Something Bigger: Join a network of exhibitors and organizations dedicated to conservation, education, and community engagement.
*Inspire and Educate: Share your knowledge and spark curiosity in young minds (and their grown-ups!)

What Are We Looking For?
We’re seeking interactive exhibits that engage families in fun, hands-on learning. Not sure how you might fit in? Here are just a few ideas:
*Art and Nature: Lead a nature-inspired craft.
*Science in Action: Offer a simple experiment or demonstration.
*Local Wildlife: Share information about local species or habitats.
*Conservation Heroes: Highlight ways families can help the environment in their daily lives.
*Outdoor Adventures: Demonstrate outdoor skills like knot-tying, birdwatching, or compass use.

If interactive activities aren’t an option, information exhibits are equally valuable. Every contribution helps us build a richer experience for attendees! Participation is free to support our shared mission of connecting families with the outdoors.

We’re excited to announce registration for our Red Cross Certified Lifeguard Training Courses is opening soon! Whether you’re a first-timer, renewing your certification, or looking to expand your skills, we're offering the following courses: 🏊‍♀️

1️⃣ Waterfront Full Lifeguard Course – For new lifeguards ready to dive in!
2️⃣ Waterfront Recertification Course – Renew your skills and stay sharp.
3️⃣ NEW: Waterfront Crossover Skills Course – Already a certified pool lifeguard? Expand your certification to work at lakefront locations!

Registration opens to residents on Tuesday, 2/4, at 9am and non-residents on Tuesday, 2/18, at 9am. Must be 15+ to register for courses.

You can view availability, fees, and detailed information online before submitting your request. Requests are granted on a first come, first served basis. Proof or residency for the new year is required. Rentals will open to eligible non-residents* on Tuesday, 2/4 at 9am.

It may be chilly outside but it's never too soon to plan your warm weather gathering! Freedom Park pavilion rentals open Tuesday, January 21st at 9am to LaGrange residents and 2/4 at 9am to eligible non-residents*. The Main Pavilion with full kitchen and the Small Pavilion (no kitchen) are available to rent May through October.

All facility rental requests are made online at www.lagrangeparksandrec.com under the “Facilities” menu. Proof of residency for 2025 is required for residents and eligible non-residents* and take up to 48 hours for approval so don't wait... upload your most recent property tax or utility bill to your account now so you're ready to request your date! Unsure how to upload this year's proof of residency? Here’s how to do it in 3 easy steps:
1️⃣ Scan or take a photo of your most recent property tax or utility bill (must be connected to your house).
2️⃣ Log in to your account at www.lagrangeparksandrec.com. Select a household member.
3️⃣ Scroll to "Add new member document", click it, and follow the prompts to upload. REPEAT FOR EACH FAMILY MEMBER.
Allow 48 hours for approval.
